Hola, amigos! Today we woke up with the chickens, though not literally. There were a few lodgings that we did wake up to chickens, but on the beach, we are pollo-less. We ate breakfast at our hotel.
It’s nice cause they just charge it all to the room and at the end, my credit card gets a workout. We’ll worry about all that later, but since it’s been for the most part asleep on this vacation, I guess it all evens out in the end.
The other nice thing about this place is that all the fruit and veggies have been purificado.
Hello salad, I’ve missed you!
We had signed up for a tour to Isla de la Plata, which is the poor man’s Galapagos. So at 9, we were promptly picked up at our hotel and driven about three blocks to the tour company. Really, if they had told us where to be at what time, we would have been happy to walk. Then we walked with our guide Johnny to the wharf, picking up small groups of tourists along the way. We jumped aboard our boat for the hour trip to the island.
Once there we had some heavy decisions to make. Did the collective group want to hike more or snorkel more? Thankfully, representatives from Germany, France, Chile, and the USA decided to snorkel more. I was worried the Germans just wanted to hike, and that Nathan might show them what a pouty American really looks like. But, whew, we were all spared that cultural embarrassment.
We set off hiking, and holy crap, just like the guide said, there were boobies everywhere. Dads with a baby. Moms and dads. Moms with two babies. Dads sitting on eggs. Dads sitting on newborns. Boobies, boobies, everywhere!
Once we had our fill of hiking and boobies, we got back on the boat for tuna or cheese sandwiches. We’ve eaten cheese sandwiches on buses and boats now three days in a row for lunch. Tomorrow, I’m looking for chicken!
The captain drove us to the snorkel spot, we dawned our fresh-from-Tulum new snorkel gear and hopped in the water. An hour of chasing fish around later, we got back in the boat for some fruitas and the ride back to town.
Dinner was near our place for some pizza (the reviews were mixed), and back to our place to have dessert.
