For the first time in our European traveling history, we slept through the night on the first night. Aside from the cat fight outside and our room tv switching itself on and off over and over by itself, of course. I guess that Dr Lippard really knows her stuff.
We woke up on our own at 6:30, got ready, hustled to the bakery for breakfast, and set off on our walking tour of the city walls. We bought our tickets right at 8 am and took a leisurely stroll around the rooftops.
Once we finished, we headed straight to a cafe for a cup of coffee. We found a nice little spot tucked away on a side street to gather our thoughts, sip cappuccinos and plan our day. Then we headed to the tourist information office. We had a vague idea of where we might want to go tomorrow, so we thought we might use their assistance in planning our next steps. Plan she did. We basically walked away with a pretty good two week itinerary. Whether we stick with it or not, nobody knows, but for tomorrow we are headed to Korcula on the afternoon ferry.
We rounded out the morning with a visit to the War Photo Museum and lunch at Lady Pi-Pi, named for a rather comical, anatomically correct statue out front. Yes, you get the idea. We finished off the day with the Franciscan monastery museum, an iced coffee outside the walls overlooking the Adriatic, another cafe stop and a glass of local wine to use the Wi-Fi, and dinner at a Bosnian restaurant.
Liberally sprinkle trips walking up and down flights of stone steps and in and out of the various gates to the city and there you have our day.
