You’re an adult after all!

Today we woke up and decided to rent bikes to explore Lumbarda, a quaint little village about 6 km from Korcula main town.

So after coffee and a pastry, we set out to figure out where to rent bikes, where to go, and where to keep our bags. Thankfully these were all easy questions, and by 10 am we were on our way.

We have discovered the Croatian people to be friendly and helpful and today was no exception. Several people stopped to help us navigate, and make sure we were going where we intended. Once we got out of Korcula main town it was a pretty straight shot, so the little bit of navigation help we needed was just leaving Korcula.

The day was fairly overcast, which was welcome after blisteringly hot Dubrovnik. Our plan was to explore Lumbarda’s few beaches and go wine tasting on our bikes. Most of Croatia’s beaches are pebble beaches and Lumbarda has a few sand beaches, so that’s noteworthy. Frankly, we haven’t yet really seen a pebble beach, so we might need to seek one out soon.

By noon, we were beached out, what with it being May and overcast and all so we decided to start the wine tasting. We had the most lovely time at three tiny wineries chatting about wine, grapes and politics.

By 4 pm it was time to head back to Korcula main town, and do a little sightseeing before collecting our bags and hopping on the ferry.

On the ferry, we chatted with a few other travelers. It’s only 2 hours from Korcula to Brac, so before too long we were on Brac. We shared a cab from the ferry port to Bol with some rich kids from Aspen, which was a good thing because it was expensive and took nearly an hour. We got here so late; it was after 10 by the time we had dinner, that we’ll probably stay here tomorrow as well.
