Someday I want to Never Summer in Patagonia

May 26, 2018

Last night we had the best dinner at the restaurant recommended by Vanda. So good.

Then we wandered into the Palace Perisil area to get ice cream. Bonus, musicians were singing and playing American oldies. We walked around, then back to our apartment to find that the A/C remote control would not summon the unit to turn on. Thankfully, the apartment was cool and we were able to sleep just fine.

The boat to Trogir

Today we got up, grabbed a pastry and coffee and set out for the Bura line boat, which will take us to the little island/town of Trogir. It’s literally just a few blocks long. The boat ride takes an hour and cost a whopping 30 kuna each, or about $4.80. We could have saved some kuna and taken the bus, but we wanted to see Split and Marjan from the water.

The Riva from the water

On the boat, we met a woman from Argentina. She normally takes a siesta and the traveling and touring instead of siesta-ing was taking a toll on her. We talked of never summering and skiing in Argentina or Chile. It’s so hot here each day, I wish I was there now. 😉

We hopped off the boat, wandered off in the wrong direction, then found the tiny little Trogir. So did a bunch of cruise ship yahoos, so in and out and we were off.

There was a Konzum supermarket and another produce market so we bought picnic makings and ate in the park shade. Then we sought out a beach to cool off my itchy feet.

The beach we found was a little pebble beach and easier to walk on than Zlatni Rat. The water was warmer too and provided relief from the Croatian heat. At 2:30 we hopped back on the boat for the ride back to Split.

Our tour guide from yesterday told us about a sand beach close to town, so we walked to yet another Croatian beach. It’s a hard life.
