C’mon Andy, we’ll Brexit together!

Today was the day! The day we sail to the Tobago Cays aboard the Friendship Rose.

We woke up early with an alarm because we needed to be at the Friendship Rose dock by 6:50. Thankfully, they were going to feed us aboard the 100 foot schooner, so we really only needed to gather our belongings and get down there.

We were shuttled on board via a wooden dinghy, and once all 24 passengers were on board, we set sail.

Breakfast, juice, and coffee were served right away, which is good, because when Nathan doesn’t get fed ASAP in the morning, he turns into one of those Snickers bar divas.

The journey to the Tobago Cays was about 3 1/2 to 4 hours long. We sailed past Mustique, then Canouan, before we got to our destination. Once there, we were again shuttled in the dinghy to the island in two groups.

Once on the island, you could hike up a little path to the island’s high point to get a view of the water and sailboats. I opted to get in the water immediately, but Nathan and most of the others all hiked up the trail.

We snorkeled in the water for a bit, and the first mate took us 5 minutes away to snorkel where the turtles like to hang out. We saw a few turtles at the surface on the ride over there, and one underwater munching away on some seagrass.

Back at the first island, we snorkeled until 1 pm when it was time to get back on board the Friendship Rose for lunch. Nathan saw a ray, and we saw a lot of trunkfish and the largest porcupine puffers we’ve ever seen.

After lunch, a few of us took turns diving off the boat.

The remainder of the day was spent snacking, chatting, and drinking rum punch with the other guests. Once back on Bequia, well after dark, we headed for a quick dinner before heading home for the night.
