#RevengeTravel

We started out this week stressed, but with a positive vibe. Last week, I decided to make a big change, or rather, I finalized it. After 5 and a half years, I accepted a new position with an exciting start-up and resigned from my current role. Bittersweet for sure, but we are excited for what the future holds.

Since Memorial Day this year, we have been loyal watchers of Rick Steve’s Monday Night Travel series on Zoom. This week was a whole episode on pandemic travel! Super timely! A quick trip to Home Depot for N95 masks, and we deemed ourselves ready to fly. Not all countries are as accepting of cloth masks and we don’t mind the upgraded protection.

We woke up this morning well before the chickens. Everything went smoothly enough, but of course, I found something to stress about. Our shuttle driver called at 3 ish to let us know he was on his way but running late (Oh, my God, do not tell me this $h!t, at 3 am no less) Deep breathing, with my N95 mask on, he arrived, and we departed for the airport.

I swear, we’re smiling

DIA has recently undergone some interior renovations, and the United bag drop was easy peasy. TSA Precheck is now only at the North security line, and we sailed right through and on to our gate. So, driver late, no harm, no foul. Boarded our flight to Houston and hoped for an uneventful flight. It was mostly so, but people, seatbelt on, mask up. It’s really not that hard. SMH.

Connection in Houston was no big deal, and we were on our way to Roatán.

Once on the ground, we cleared immigration, grabbed our bags, cleared customs, and walked out into the melee. It wasn’t actually so bad, but after nearly 2 years of being US homebodies, the chaos of all of the taxi and shuttle drivers volleying for our business was noticeable. We found Rigo from our resort, hopped in his ride, and off we went. Rigo was great, even treated us to some local fruits from a roadside vendor. A quick stop to the grocery store and we were off to our lodging.

Need to Google this!

As soon as we possibly could, we donned our swimsuits and got into the water. Hmm, this was the first major hiccup. It sounds an awful lot like bragging, but all of the running I’ve done as part of my PT has made it so I’ve lost a little weight. I’d tried on my suit at home and I admit, I was disappointed that it still fit. Well, sure, on dry land, but in the waves, that sucker is gonna fall right off. Tomorrow’s adventure is swimsuit buying.
