Dinner and an agouti, or two!

We had no plans for today, except to go diving with Denzel at 3:15, so we lingered over two cups of coffee this morning. The weather was not supposed to be nice, so when the sun was still shining by 9:30 or so, I told Nathan we should get our suits on and head down to the palapa.

So we spent the morning snorkeling, reading, sunbathing, and paddleboarding out front of Turtle Beach.

Six pack abs!

Nathan even had time to catch a nap.

Naptime!

Sometime after lunch, the clouds started building and it got decidedly more windy. After getting stuck in the palapa during a previous rain, Nathan made the call as to when we needed to head back up to our room.

Safely settled in our room with a view, it briefly rained. We enjoyed yet another cup of coffee and allowed the weather to pass. At 3, we headed over to the dive shop, hopped aboard the boat with Denzel, and rode some pretty rough waves to the dive site.

Now, fully aware that I’m an anxious diver, both Denisse and Denzel made a point of saying how the waves would be choppy and we’d need to get below the surface of the water asap.

So we did. (There was only one ‘I’m scared’ today.) I got right under and did not struggle with equalizing today. I did notice that if I arched my back and held my head more upright instead of horizontal, it seems to help me equalize. So basically, unlearn all that Pilates, just for diving.

I did hold Denzel’s hand for a while (We are gonna really need to tip him good!) and was ok all on my own for a bit, when the fattest moray eel you’ve ever seen decided to get into a tussle with a snapper, right underneath me. This happened to me in Bonaire, so I was fine, but Denzel didn’t know that, so for the remainder of the dive I was holding his hand again.

Denzel also pointed out a bunch of fishes, a huge sand dollar, Lionfish, jawfish, and loads of other things.

Happy divers

Back up at the surface, we quickly showered and headed to dinner. We are back having pizza at Bananarama and the delightful Kevin is once again our server. Two agoutis ran past me, and we are having a wonderful time.
