I’m ok going with more people, if I can still hold Denzel’s hand

Today, we woke up in Monkey Lair, knowing that we had to move back to Crabby Cabin. So, goodbye room with a view, and back to the room with a bigger fridge, and slightly more privacy. You win some, you lose some. One of the advantages of Crabby Cabin is that you can get into the screened-in porch and away from the bugs without needing to unlock it. Definitely a plus for me that we can just rush in.

The weather was not supposed to be good enough even for diving, so we again had no plans. That’s sorta been the name of the game for this vacation. I’ve been so stressed since basically May of this year, but perhaps earlier than that, that I just wanted a chill vacation where we could do or not do. So today after eating breakfast and moving rooms, we gathered our books, snacks, phones and waters, and went down to the palapa. As long as it is windy, and wind = no bugs, I’m a happy camper. So in the clouds and wind, we sat and read.

Me in my suit of questionable origin

Sometime around lunchtime, we decided a downpour was imminent and we headed back to our room. We fixed sandwiches, read in our screened-in porch, and watched the agouti outside of our room. To be honest, a fair amount of my time was spent troubleshooting this site. A perfect way to spend a vacation day. (Insert snort of derision)

Once I was satisfied with my work, and Nathan polished off his second cup of coffee, we loaded up a backpack and walked into West End.

The walk to West End

Now, the walk to West End is not for the faint of heart. It’s not for people like my mother. It’s not to be done after dark. Never go alone. And just like The Flume at ValleyFair, you will get wet. So, properly adorned with 1990’s era water shoes and a cotton skirt, we headed out to West End.

I promptly got soaked by waves. Nathan turned around and asked if I fell in. No, I did not fall in. The sea just thought I needed a bath.

Once in West End, we did a little shopping, got cash from the ATM, and grabbed a rotisserie chicken and sides to heat up for dinner. Chicken in hand, we boarded a water taxi and headed back to our room.

We spent happy hour with a few other guests, also from Colorado, and enjoying the sunset.
