Where’s the rum?

After the week I’ve had, I could drink the whole bottle.

Ugh.  This week was THE WORST.  It started out with a ‘normal’ amount of adults not playing nice in the same sandbox and ended with holy hell, wtf just happened?
It was easy to console myself at the beginning of the week with the idea that rum drinks and time on the beach would cure our woes, but now I’m not so sure. A major shift has occurred.

I…just…can’t…even… Can’t comprehend it. A monumental shift.

Friday we both worked from home.  Normal for me, but Nathan usually goes in every day.  He’s so weird!

It snowed all day the before, so instead of the morning walk with Fibs, we shoveled and let him run around and play in the snow.

Nathan was so busy, he literally worked all day right up until the shuttle came to get us at 4:45.  But, I think he finished and got the pretty architecture pictures sent to the client at the 11th hour. Literally shutting the computer down with the airport shuttle at the front door.

Our first flight on Friday was only to Houston.  Travel to and through DIA was seamless and easy and the only notable thing was we saw not one, but two, Colorado lawmakers walking through the airport.   Truth be told, both are hated in our household, and I may have hissed at one.  I was wearing a mask, so only I know the truth.

Almost there!

Actually, there was a minor amount of United mayhem that had to be factored into the trip.  Our layover is an overnight in Houston.  We booked a room at the IAH Marriott,  and when we went to check our bags in Denver, we told the agent at the bag drop off that we wanted to pick it up in Houston.  He looked at our bag tag and told us its checked all the way to San Pedro Sula.  If you believe him, he was powerless to reroute our bag to get onto the carousel in Houston.  But, according to him, we just needed to ask the gate agent once we arrived in Houston and they could get our bags to the carousel.

Airport tuk tuk ride

Not really believing it was going to be so easy, we quickly grabbed the barest of essentials, checked our bag and made our way to the terminal.

Our living quarters

I repeated my request to the Denver gate agent, and they said yes, get off in Houston and the gate agent will help you get your bag.  Once in Houston, we deplaned and wouldn’t you know, they don’t do retrievals past 10 pm.  We asked again in baggage claim and got the same answer.

Our beach and front yard

So, to the hotel we went.  And we were glad we had taken the time to pull those items from our checked bag.

Home

Today we got up, ate breakfast,  flew from Houston to San Pedro Sula to Utila without major issue.

The pilot of our ~20 seat plane drove it on the ground like he stole it, and 30 minutes later we were back on the ground and in a tuk tuk headed to our place.

Lempiras in our pockets,  fish and rum in my belly, we are ready to hit the grocery store and hit the hay, and I’m relieved once again that my work email ceases to work outside of US borders.
