I did not sleep so good. My Fitbit thinks I slept great, but we only had a sheet on our bed, and I was cold. At some point in the night I went and grabbed the bath towels to cover myself. Nathan suffered under the sheet, sans towels.
We had set an alarm for 7 am, and we were both up before it went off. Nathan made coffee, and we slowly greeted the day.
We had to check out of our lodgings today by 10 am, so we got ready, had breakfast of yogurt, granola and local honey, repacked all of our belongings and groceries, and walked 15 minutes fully loaded to Purple Jawfish.
Angel the property manager met us there, and we got reacquainted with the space. The guests before us had to cancel due to tropical storm Sara, and it seems like the place had been closed up for awhile. We plugged in the fridge, got it up and running, and double checked both the water and electricity supply (only 6.1 Kwh remaining!) Angel spent some time cleaning up storm debris from our beach.
Angel leaves with a list of items that need attending to: refill the electricity, investigate the lack of wifi, bring a water jug and a new USB cord. We get situated, pack our backpacks for diving, and make a quick sandwich for lunch.
At 12:20, Chover shows up in his tuk tuk to take us to Tank’d, the dive shop. We filled out paperwork, got our gear ready, and hopped aboard the boat.
We’ve arranged for a 1 tank dive, and there’s a couple tourists and three divemasters-in-training joining us. It’s a full boat. We motored to the Little Bight dive site, got ready and backward rolled into the water. We both did pretty well descending, and there were no divas in this group, so we set off. We saw lionfish, garden eels, a black and white crinoid (feather star), colorful coral, a cowfish, French Angelfish, parrotfish, and my favorite, purple and yellow Fairy Basslets.
We surfaced after the dive to rain, and the boat ride back to Tank’d was pretty cold. Back at the shop, we unloaded and cleaned the gear and dried ourselves off. We packed up our backpacks, and set off. We went to Bush’s Supermarket again to buy our remaining provisions to start the week. We also hit a few other shops for trail mix and nuts, a pineapple, and some dish towels.
Arms and backpacks full, we walked back to Purple Jawfish. We dealt with our wet gear, fixed a drink, and sat on the porch swing while we waited for Angel to come by. It was nearly dark when he arrived with the micro B USB cord, the code for more electricity, a water jug, some ice and coke (for the trouble?) and we jiggled cords to the internet contraption until it functioned. Winning.
Errands and situating all done, Nathan and I walked to dinner at Coral View.
