Sunday Night, Pizza Night

November 24, 2024

I had to consult my watch for the date, so by that measure, this vacation is going superbly. It’s Sunday. I’ve taken two showers since Thursday and I’ve put deo on exactly zero times. I’ve thought about work only in the framework of the Utila Chocolate Company. They make chocolate, coffee and honey. Last time we were here I bought their little chocolate bars to give to my co-workers. Vacation = Life.

When I woke up today Nathan was already outside sitting outside reading and drinking coffee. It had rained overnight, but we heard none of that. We sat on our porch, drinking coffee, until Nathan decided to do a little more beach raking.

We have absolutely no plans today, so we didn’t even fix breakfast until 9 am. By then, the sun was out and we were feeling pretty positive about the day.

Coffee on the porch swing

After our breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and pineapple jam, Nathan continued his beach raking pursuits and I sat on the beach lounger. I suggested that at 11 am we go snorkeling, and that is precisely what we did.

French Angelfish

We saw Angel drive past when we were getting in the water. Did we need anything? Nope, all good.

We snorkeled right out in front of our house and saw so many fish. Even more than we saw yesterday during our dive. Lots of surgeonfish in schools, Stoplight parrotfish in schools, a juvenile yellowtail damselfish, French angelfish, Christmas tree worms, an ocean triggerfish, more Fairy basslets, a trumpetfish, and another crinoid.

We got out of the water close to 1 pm, and by now the clouds had filled the sky. I was quite chilly, so I hopped in the shower to warm up.

Lunch was ham and cheese sandwiches, fresh pineapple, leftover tostones, and real sugar Coke ala Angel.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing on or near our porch. Nathan spent some time in the hammock, and I was on our porch swing.

The rain came after 3 pm, and we stuck it out on the porch until 5:15. Ordered a pizza from Pizza Nut on WhatsApp, and spent the rest of the evening looking through our fish books.
