There’s not much to report for today. We woke at about 5:45, but we had no reason to. Today we are taking a day off from diving. The internet here at our Casita has decided it wanted a vacation too, in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Sara, so today I spent the first several hours of the day tethered to the window above our bed, hotspotting my phone, and trying to get the last two posts done with internet from the property across the street.
Our property caretaker here has said the internet company is coming out to the property to look at the antenna on the roof, but I feel like those might be Island Time promises.
Angel, the caretaker, told us he manages 6 properties. In another life time, another world, he’d be a mob boss doling out internet service to those hungry for it and fattening up his pockets. Instead, he gives us the password to the wifi across the street, and here I am hugging the wall.
It’s all good though. It allows us to slow down a little and relax. This is, after all, a vacation. The rat race is coming for us soon enough when we get home. On Monday, December 2, I may or may not have jury duty. I’ll know for sure come Friday at 5 pm. As long as I have internet, that is.
All kidding aside, we’re doing just fine. The weather today was a mix of clouds and sun, with just a few raindrops mixed in. Before lunch we walked to the grocery store to pick up a few odds and ends, and made it back in time to fix lunch.
After lunch we snorkeled for a bit. Nathan spotted a spotted eagle ray, and I’m jealous. We stayed in the water for an hour and a half, and then came in to shower and sit on our porch some more.
Thanksgiving is tomorrow and we have a lot to be thankful for. Our families are healthy, our jobs are paying the bills, and we’re able to experience life to the fullest both at home and abroad. And we’re coming home to ski season in full swing. That’s where my heart is.
