One Last Foot Soak

Wednesday, May 28, 2025

Today, we had no plans. We’re supposed to be resting after our hike.

Nathan got up a little after 6 am, and was in the shower when I got up at 6:30. We both got ready, and went down to the breakfast spread shortly after 7.

It was a pretty typical hotel breakfast buffet: coffee, scrambled eggs, pastries and breads, yogurt, seeds, dried fruit, cereal and champagne.

After breakfast, we decided to finish the historical town walk that we started yesterday, and ended up at the town walls. We had no plans to pay the 3 Euro fee and enter them, but we did. Up, down, up and down the rock steps we went. We can see snow covered mountains from up on the walls and we wonder if they are Italy or perhaps Triglav National Park where we came from.

We’re supposed to be resting, but as you can see, we aren’t.

All of Piran Old Town

After the town walls, we walked around town for a bit, checked into the TI to ask about tomorrow’s bus, and by 10 am or so we’d done it all.

Seriously – Watch Your Head

We decided to walk the coastline to nearby Portoroz, and checked out the beachy resort area, before stopping in to a market in Portoroz to buy sandwich stuff and head back.

Ship Ladder Steps

We found a shady spot on the boardwalk for our lunch, before the ~45 minute walk back to Piran.

Once in Piran, we grabbed a towel from our room, and walked down to the water’s edge to dip our feet in. There’s plenty of people swimming, and the water’s not that cold. It’s certainly warmer than any of our other mountain foot soaks.

Cherries Are In Season

After the foot soak in the Adriatic, we grab a coffee at a seaside restaurant, before spending some time reading and relaxing on our balcony.
